He was born in Kırıkkale in 1976. He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Kırıkkale. In 1998, he graduated from Kırıkkale University Vocational School of Computer Programming.
Altundağ, who was introduced to the working life during his student years, later continued his career at the IT Center of the Turkish Metalworkers’ Union Headquarters. In 2005, he started working as a Press Operator at an industrial workplace in Gebze, Kocaeli. During the same period, he completed his studies at the Department of Business Administration of Anadolu University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.
Between 2005 and 2015, Altundağ was elected as the President of the Turkish Metalworkers’ Union Gebze Dilovası Branch in the ordinary general assemblies held, serving as the Branch President for four terms. During his tenure as Branch President, Altundağ also served as a Member of the Central Discipline Committee at the 13th General Assembly of the Turkish Metalworkers’ Union held on April 3-5, 2009, and as a Member of the Central Audit Committee at the 14th General Assembly held on June 15-17, 2012.
While serving his fourth term as Branch President, Altundağ was elected as the Financial Secretary at the 15th General Assembly of the Turkish Metalworkers’ Union held on August 1-2, 2015. He was then elected as the Vice - President at the 16th General Assembly held on June 29-30, 2019, and at the 17th Ordinary General Assembly held on April 1-2, 2023. On February 8, 2024, Altundağ was unanimously elected as the President by the decision of the Turkish Metalworkers’ Union Board of Directors, replacing Pevrul Kavlak who resigned from his position due to health issues.
Altundağ also continues his role as a Member of the Executive Committee at IndustriAll European Trade Union.
Uysal Altundağ is married and he has three children.
