Pevrul Kavlak was born in 1962 in Kırıkkale, Turkey. He completed his primary, secondary, MKEK Apprentice School, and high school education in Kırıkkale. He began his professional career at the MKEK Arms and Rifle Factory in 1979 and continued working there until 1991. Later, he worked at Profilo Telra Electronics in Çerkezköy starting from 1991.

In the Turkish Metal Workers' Union Çerkezköy Branch, he was elected as the Branch Financial Secretary in the 4th General Assembly in 1992, as the Branch Secretary in the 5th General Assembly in 1995, and as the Branch President in the 6th General Assembly in 1998.

At the 11th General Assembly of the Turkish Metal Workers' Union held on April 26-28, 2002, he was elected as the General Secretary, at the 12th General Assembly held on December 2-4, 2005, as the Vice - President, and at the 13th General Assembly held on April 3-5, 2009, as the President. He was re-elected as the President in the 14th, 15th, 16th, and 17th General Assemblies held on June 15-17, 2012, August 1-2, 2015, June 29-30, 2019, and April 1-2, 2023, respectively. He served five consecutive terms as the President. Kavlak resigned from the position of President on February 8, 2024, due to health issues.

Since 2007, Kavlak has also been involved in the Board of Members of the Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions (TÜRK-İŞ). He was elected as the Secretary for General Organization at the 20th General Assembly of TÜRK-İŞ in 2007 and as the General Secretary in June 2010. He reassumed the position of General Secretary at the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd General Assemblies of TÜRK-İŞ held on December 8-10, 2011, December 3-6, 2015, and December 5-7, 2019, respectively. He was elected as the Vice - President at the 24th General Assembly of TÜRK-İŞ held on November 30-December 2, 2023.

In 1994, Kavlak was elected as the General Secretary of the International Eurasian Metalworkers' Federation (IEMF) at its 4th General Assembly held in Ankara, representing approximately 10 million workers from 76 unions. He was elected as the President of IEMF at its 6th General Assembly held on March 8, 2011, and was re-elected to this position at the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th General Assemblies held on March 6, 2014, March 6, 2017, March 5, 2020, and March 7, 2023, respectively.

Kavlak was elected as a full member of the Executive Committee at the 3rd Congress of IndustriAll Global Union held on September 14-15, 2021, where Turkish Metal Workers' Union became a member in 2019. He also served as a full member of the Executive Committee of IndustriAll Europe.

Pevrul Kavlak, married and a father of two childiren. He passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, due to a severe illness.
