IEMF 10TH ORDINARY GENERAL ASSEMBLY CONVENED

The 10th General Assembly of the International Eurasian Metalworkers' Federation (IEMF), of which our union Türk Metal is a founding member, was held on 7 March at the Grand Mercure Ankara Hotel with the participation of Vedat Bilgin, Minister of Labour and Social Security, and Ergün Atalay, President of the Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions (TÜRK-İŞ). In the elections held, President Pevrul Kavlak was unanimously elected for the fifth time as President of the Federation. The first speech of the General Assembly was given by Pevrul Kavlak, President of Turk Metal Union and IEMF. He started his speech by saying that the General Assembly of IEMF was held after a great disaster in our country and reminded that in this difficult process our country was going through, there were people from all over the world who rushed to help our country and conveyed his gratitude to all of them. After the speech of our President Pevrul Kavlak, Ergün Atalay, President of our Federation TÜRK-İŞ and Vedat Bilgin, Minister of Labour and Social Security spoke.

After the speeches of the delegates on the agenda, the working report presented to the delegates of the 10th Ordinary General Assembly of IEMF and the report of the Audit Committee were unanimously approved. Finally, the General Assembly proceeded to the election of the organs of the Executive Committee. Our President Pevrul Kavlak was re-elected as President of the Federation, while Andrey Fefelov (Russian Federation), Asılbek Nuralin (Kazakhstan), Taf Koleci (Albania) and Bakir Yusifov (Azerbaijan) were elected as Vice-Presidents.

While General Secretary Yusuf Ziya Odabaş did not stand for re-election as General Secretary, Murat Salar (Turkey), General Financial Secretary of our union, was elected as General Secretary. Aleksandr Panychev (Russian Federation) and 35 delegates from 18 countries attended the General Assembly, which was attended by our Vice-Presidents Uysal Altundağ and Halil Faki Erdal, our General Secretary Taliphan Kıymaz and nearly 500 members from the workplaces organised by our union in Ankara.Turajan Raupov (Uzbekistan) were re-elected as Deputy General Secretaries.
