OINT MEETING OF THE MERCEDES-BENZ EUROPEAN AND WORLD WORKS COUNCILS

The joint meeting of the Mercedes-Benz EWC and WEC councils was held in Stuttgart, Germany, on 16 and 17 May under the chairmanship of Ergun Lümali, Chairman of the European and World Works Councils and member of the Supervisory Board of Mercedes-Benz. The meeting, which discussed strategies for the production of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, also saw the election of the new leadership of the Mercedes-Benz Europe Works Council.

In the opening session of the joint meeting, Ola Kallenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz, gave an assessment of the current situation and future strategies of the Mercedes-Benz Group. Afterwards, the participants of the meeting gave presentations on the socio-economic situation and trade union activities in the countries they represent. In this section, our Vice-President Uysal Altundağ gave a presentation on the current situation in Turkey.

The first day of the joint meeting of the European and World Works Councils focused on the global sales situation for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, the supply chain management policy, and the strategies to be implemented in areas such as human resources and personnel management.

The first part of the second day of the meeting was devoted to a presentation of EWC activities. The meeting was rounded off by Georg Leutert, Director of the Automotive and Aviation Sector of IndustriALL Global Union, who presented the Global Framework Agreement (GFA) signed between IndustriALL Global Union and Mercedes Benz and the current situation in the global automotive sector.

Our Vice-President Uysal Altundağ was accompanied by Burak Ekmekcioğlu, Head of International Relations Department, at the Joint Meeting of Mercedes-Benz European and World Works Councils.
