STATEMENT BY TURK METAL
The earthquake, which has plunged our country into mourning, the disaster of the century, has shattered our hearts. Our pain is immense. Now it is time for solidarity, hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder. We are here for all our citizens affected by the earthquake... As the Turkish Metal Union, we are doing whatever is necessary... We will continue to do so until the effects of this great disaster are over.
As we Türk Metal, is in contact with the institutions of our state, especially AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority Turkey). As a result of the negotiations with AFAD, our hotel in Ankara Akyurt, our hotel in Ankara city center, our hotel in Ereğli, our workers' houses in Ankara Kolej and Kızılay, and our student dormitories in Ankara Maltepe and Istanbul Şirinevler have been launched for the use of earthquake victims. Everyone, especially our members in the region will be able to benefit from these social facilities.
The crisis desks were set up both at our Headquarters and in İskenderun for our approximately two thousand members working in various workplaces in ten provinces in the region. In line with the demands of the crisis desk established within our Confederation TÜRK-İŞ, humanitarian aid vehicles needed for both our members and all citizens affected by the earthquake have been sent to the region. They will continue to be sent in the future. We hope that the support for the campaign of TÜRK-İŞ will reach 100 million liras.
As the Turkish Metalworker’s Union, we will never stop in this process. Our real work will begin after the rubble of this great disaster is removed. Türk Metal's strong hand is on our members and all earthquake victims in the region and none of our members will go through this process alone. #Bizdevarız! (#CountUsIn!)
