The 5th Labour Award Ceremony was held in Ankara

The 5th Labour Award Ceremony, one of the traditional organisations of the Turkish Metal Workers' Union, was held on Saturday, April 1, at Anadolu Hotels Esenboğa Thermal after the end of the first day of the 17th General Assembly of the Turkish Metal Workers' Union. At the ceremony, awards were given on behalf of the metal workers to pro-worker academics who have contributed to the activities of our union, Türk Metal, and to journalists who have covered the activities of our union on their pages and screens. Following the recent earthquake disaster in our country, which affected 11 provinces, pro-worker awards were given to the miners who participated in the search and rescue activities in the earthquake areas and to the TOFAŞ Search and Rescue Team, which consists of our members working at TOFAŞ, where our union is organised.

Addressing the guests attending the ceremony, President Pevrul Kavlak told the story of the beginning of the Labour Award Ceremony and to whom the Labour Award was given. After the speech of Kavlak, the award ceremony started. The academics Prof. Dr. Metin Kutal and Prof. Dr. Zeki Erdut, Sedat Bozkurt, Selçuk Tepeli, Hazal Ateş, Sadettin İnan and Orhan Uğuroğlu from the national press, international trade unionists Kemal Özkan and Asilbek Nuralin, former President of Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions Women's Committee Rahime Erdoğan and former Vice-President Muharrem Aslıyüce received the Friends of Labour Award on behalf of the metal workers for their support of our union's activities. The Labour Awards were also presented to the search and rescue teams from the Turkish Stone Corporation (TTK), Turkish Hard Coal Enterprises (TKİ) and TOFAŞ, Mehmet Akif Ersoy from Habertürk TV, Fulya Öztürk from CNN Türk, Adem Altan from Ajans France Press and academician Prof. Dr Naci Görür.
